Rajasthan: In the second match of the 3 match ODI series being played between India and Sri Lanka on Sri Lankan soil, host Sri Lanka performed brilliantly and defeated India by 32 runs. After which Pathum Nissanka, who was in form for the team, was run out on the very first ball by Mohammad Siraj. After this, Kusal Mendis and Avishka Fernando shared a 74-run partnership.After this, the Indian team's bowlers made a strong comeback and took 6 wickets of Sri Lanka for 136 runs. After this, the heroes of the last match, Dunith Welalage and Kamindu Mendis handled the innings and took Sri Lanka past 200 runs. There was a valuable partnership of 72 runs between the two for the 7th wicket.
After this, Sri Lanka's innings reached a score of 240 for 9 wickets in 50 overs. Kamindu Mendis contributed 40 runs and Avishka Fernando also contributed 40 runs, while Dunith Welalage scored 39 runs. He dismissed Rohit Sharma on a personal score of 64 runs in 44 balls.After this, Kohli and Gill took the team to 116 runs, from here the batsmen of Team India succumbed to the spin of Jeffrey Vandersay, who was playing the first match of this series, and Team India lost 6 wickets at a score of 147. Shubman Gill scored 35 runs, Virat Kohli scored 14 runs. Dubey and Rahul could not even open their account.
After this, Akshar Patel and Washington Sundar kept the hopes alive and took the score past 180. The Indian team somehow crossed 200 but the entire team was out at a score of 208 runs in 42.2 overs and Sri Lanka won the match by 32 runs. For Lanka, Jeffrey Vandersay took 6 wickets for 33 runs, while Charith Asalanka took 3 wickets. The last ODI match between the two teams will be played on August 7 at this ground.
