SL vs IND: Dilshan Madushanka, Matheesha Pathirana ruled out of ODI series

Sri Lanka have suffered a major blow ahead of the ODI series against India as fast bowlers Dilshan Madushanka and Matheesha Pathirana have been ruled out due to injuries.
Notably both Madushanka and Pathirana featured in the recent T20I series between the two teams and picked one and five wickets respectively. However, they won't be featuring in the 50-over format as Madushanka suffered a left hamstring injury (Grade 2) during fielding practices while while diving to take a catch during the Third T20I. The Selectors have named seamers Mohammed Shiraz and Eshan Malinga as their replacements. Both youngsters are yet to make their international debut. Apart from them, Sri Lanka have also added Kusal Janith, Pramod Madushan and Jeffrey Vandersay have been added to the squad as standbys. "Matheesha Pathirana and Dilshan Madushanka will not take part in the ODI series as the players have sustained injuries. Dilshan Madushanka suffered a left hamstring injury (Grade 2), the player sustained during fielding at practices. Pathirana has suffered a mild sprain on his right shoulder while diving to take a catch during the Third T20 match vs. India," Sri Lanka Cricket posted on their X account. "The Cricket Selectors have brought in Mohammed Shiraz and Eshan Malinga as replacements for the above two. In the meantime, the following three players have been added to the squad as standbys.1) Kusal Janith 2) Pramod Madushan 3) Jeffrey Vandersay," they added.  
  Sri Lanka already missing Chameera and Thushara's services The injuries add to the woes of Sri Lanka who earlier lost the services of against the Men in Blue. Thushara suffered an injury to his left thumb while fielding during the team's practice session ahead of the T20I series and Chameera has been sidelined due to respiratory infection. Notably, Sri Lanka will take on India in three ODIs beginning from Thursday, August 2. The hosts will be eager to end their ten-match long losing streak across all three formats against India in the upcoming series. Earlier, the hosts suffered a 3-0 whitewash in the T20I series which concluded on Tuesday, July 30.
