ICC Test Rankings: India ace spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has reclaimed the top spot in ICC Men's Test bowling rankings after the nine-wicket haul in the historic 100th Test in the fifth Test against England in Dharamsala

Ashwin replaced compatriot Jasprit Bumrah from the numero uno spot after scalping four and five wickets respectively in the final Test as India won by an innings and 64 runs to clinch the series 4-1.

Ashwin will start his sixth stint at the top of the rankings after first becoming the number one Test bowler in December 2015.

Ashwin was not the only spinner to make big in the latest rankings update as Kuldeep Yadav gained 15 places to attain a career-best 16th spot after claiming seven wickets. He was also named Player of the Match in the fifth Test and became the fastest Indian in terms of balls bowled to take 50 Test wickets.

India's captain Rohit Sharma has surged five places to claim the sixth spot in the batting rankings, while Shubman Gill has reached a career-best 20th position after climbing 11 places.

Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was named Player of the Series, has elevated two spots to eighth following his notable half-century. Jaiswal now boasts 740 rating points after nine Tests, a feat surpassed by only Australians Don Bradman (752) and Mike Hussey (741) at this stage of their careers.

In the English camp, Zak Crawley and Jonny Bairstow each advanced a slot in the batting rankings, while spinner Shoaib Bashir made significant progress, jumping 11 places to claim the 71st position.

Australia secured a 2-0 series victory over New Zealand in Christchurch, propelling them to second place in the World Test Championship table behind India. Alex Carey's pivotal unbeaten 98 guided him from 50th to 38th in the rankings.

Josh Hazlewood, continuing his exceptional form, claimed six wickets in the match, including a five-for, bringing his tally to 35 wickets at an impressive average of 15.31. This performance catapulted him to the second position behind Ashwin, matching his previous best ranking achieved in February 2017. Despite reaching a peak bowling rating of 864 in March 2017, Hazlewood has never claimed the top spot. He joins the ranks of Kapil Dev, Ryan Harris, Courtney Walsh, and Rangana Herath, who reached higher peaks without ever attaining the number one position.

Matt Henry's outstanding first-innings figures of seven for 67 steered him six places up to 12th position, crossing the 700-point mark for the first time in his career. Additionally, he climbed to sixth among all-rounders.

Other notable movements in the batting rankings include Australian Mitchell Marsh, who ascended eight places to 55th, as well as New Zealand's Tom Latham and Rachin Ravindra, who moved up six places to 35th and ten places to 66th respectively.
