Till now, there is a rule of retaining only 4 players in IPL, in which no more than 2 foreign players and no more than 3 Indian players can be included. However, after 17 seasons of the league, many franchises have expressed their desire to increase the number of retentions to create an identity for the team for the coming years, so that the attachment of the fans also remains with the team. Regarding this, BCCI had decided to hold a meeting with the franchise owners, the main agenda of which was this.

This meeting was held at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai on Wednesday, July 31. Only franchise owners were present in it along with BCCI officials and IPL Governing Council. The report claims that many franchise owners were in favor of increasing the number of retentions during this time, including Kolkata's owner and Bollywood star Shahrukh Khan. But on the other hand, the owner of Punjab Kings objected to this. On behalf of Punjab, not Preity Zinta but the franchise's co-owner Ness Wadia was present in this meeting and it is being told that he had a lot of debate with Shahrukh on this matter.

Why do both have different opinions?

Now the question is why did the argument happen between the two? The reason is clear. Shahrukh's KKR won the title this season and in such a situation, he would like to keep as many players of this team with him as possible, so that the 'core' of the team remains intact. On the other hand, like the last several seasons, Punjab Kings failed this time too and like every time, it changed many players in its playing eleven.
