Kane Williamson will play for Durban Super Giants in the third season of the SA20. After declining a central contract, the Kiwi star batter is looking to compete in different leagues across the world. He is the second-highest run-scorer for New Zealand across formats, amassing over 18000 runs in 358 matches. He will make his debut in SA20. The new season will start from January 9 to February 8 next year.
The Durban Super Giants lost to Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the final in the previous edition. Chris Woakes will also play for the franchise. He has been a key player for England in white-ball cricket and played a role in their 2019 ODI and 2022 T20I World Cup success. Joe Root is a part of Paarl Royals, and Ben Stokes will turn up for MI Cape Town.
Last month, Kane Williamson left New Zealand’s captaincy in white-ball cricket and also said no to a central contract for the 2024-25 season. The New Zealand Cricket Board revealed that Kane had decided to prolong his international career.
“SA20 is looking exciting to me. I know I had to say no to central contract. However, I still want to play for my country. I will miss some games while playing in South Africa.”
