Star shooter Manu Bhaker performed brilliantly on Sunday and ended the 12-year drought and brought the country its first medal in shooting at the Olympics. Manu also opened the medal account for the country at the Paris Olympics. Many eminent leaders including President Draupadi Murmu, PM Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have congratulated Manu on her historic performance. PM Modi called her performance an incredible achievement.

Manu Bhaker performed brilliantly in the final of the women's 10 meter air pistol played in Paris and finished third and with this she won the bronze medal.

Manu also opened the medal account for the country in the Paris Olympics. She also became the country's first female shooter to win a medal in the Olympics. Manu won the bronze medal with 221.7 points in the final match of 8 shooters.

President Draupadi Murmu also congratulated her on social media X and tweeted, "Hearty congratulations to shooter Manu Bhaker for bringing laurels to the country by winning a bronze medal in the 10 meter air pistol shooting at the Paris Olympics. She is the first Indian woman to win an Olympic medal in shooting competition. The country is very proud of Manu Bhaker. Her achievement will inspire many sportspersons, especially women."

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has also congratulated Manu Bhaker for her success. He said, "Congratulations to Manu Bhaker on winning the first medal for the country by winning bronze medal in Paris Olympics. Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini has also congratulated shooter Manu Bhaker on winning the bronze medal. Manu's uncle Baljeet Singh, who won the medal in Paris, said, "It is a matter of pride for the whole country that for the first time a medal has come in women's shooting. We were hoping for a gold medal, but this is also a good achievement. She has worked very hard."

On Manu Bhaker's victory, mother Sumedha Bhaker said, "I always wanted my daughter to be happy. I always feel good." Manu's father Ram Kishan Bhaker said, "The whole country is happy with this achievement, she still has 2 events left. We hope that she will perform even better in the future. India has got its first medal in shooting in the Olympic Games after 12 years. This is India's first Olympic medal in shooting after the London Olympics in 2012. Indian shooters failed to win medals in the 2016 Rio Olympics and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
