India all-rounder Axar Patel stated that new head coach Gautam Gambhir and his support staff have clearly stated that there will be no major changes to the way the Indian cricket team has been operating in recent years.

After the T20 World Cup, the Indian coaching setup underwent significant changes. Rahul Dravid and his team, including batting coach Viram Rathour and bowling coach Paras Mhambrey, made way for Gambhir, who has appointed Abhishek Nayar and Ryan ten Doeschate as his assistant coaches.

T Dilip is the sole member of the previous coaching staff retained under the new head coach Gambhir. The ongoing Sri Lanka tour marked the debut of India’s revamped coaching setup. While the BCCI is yet to officially confirm the full support staff, reports suggest that Nayar, ten Doeschate, and Dilip are expected to have their appointments finalized after the team’s return from the Sri Lanka tour.

India have a new T20I captain in Suryakumar Yadav, as Rohit Sharma has decided to step away from T20I cricket.

Axar, a mainstay of the team for over a decade, stated that while the captain and coach may change, the team and players remain focused.

“Over the past decade, I have played under various coaches and team captains. Despite this turnover, I don’t anticipate significant changes to the team dynamic going forward,” daid Axar.

“Despite the change of coaches and captains, the core group of 11 to 15 players on the team remains consistent, as discussed during the team meeting. These players must adapt and perform despite the leadership changes,” he added.

“The coach has repeatedly assured the team that they will continue playing in the same manner as before. However, the coach’s input and the team’s overall mindset may shift, as the players are frequently reminded. Despite these potential changes, the team’s atmosphere has remained largely unchanged,” he continued.
