Delhi:IPL franchises have now got two additional days to submit the retention list of players. BCCI said in the message sent to all the teams on Monday (2 November) that now the franchises can decide the list of their retained and released players till 17 November. Earlier this deadline was 15 November.
However, there has been no change in the date and venue of IPL mini auction. The players auction will be held on 16th December in Goa only.
Why was IPL retention date extended?
It is believed that BCCI has given extra time to the franchise in view of the ODI match to be held between India and New Zealand. The fifth and last ODI of the series between India and New Zealand will be played on November 15 at the Bay Oval ground in Mount Maunganui.
Earlier, the last date for submitting the retention list of players was fixed on this day. In such a situation, the board has decided to give two days additional time to the franchises, so that they can comfortably complete the process of retaining or releasing their players.
No change in auction date
IPL Mini Auction will be held on 16th December in Goa only. The second match of the ODI series between India and Sri Lanka is also to be played on this day. This match will be held at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Despite this, BCCI has not given any indication of change in the date of auction. In the latest message of the Board, it has been reiterated that the auction will be held on 16th December only.

BCCI has also told the complete schedule of players' registration and franchise preparations before the mini auction to be held in Goa. The process of registration of players has started from Monday, November 2.

The franchise will have to complete the process of retaining and releasing players by 17th November. After this, registration of players will close on 23rd November.
Teams will have time till December 1 to submit the final list of players of their choice for the IPL auction. At the same time, the final list of the auction including the set of players will be released on December 3.
In this way, before the IPL mini auction, the franchises have now got some more time to prepare their team and decide on the selection of players.
