India failed to cross the 200-run mark in the fifth and final T20I against New Zealand. The opener failed once again as the Men in Blue posted 191/8 in their 20 overs. Adam Milne got rid of Sanju Samson (4) and Abhishek Sharma (1), with India at 19/2 in 3.1 overs. It was Ishan Kishan and captain Shreyas Iyer who kept the scoreboard ticking, adding 93 runs for the third wicket. Kishan, who was ordinary in the previous game, managed 61 runs off 32 balls, with the help of 5 fours and 5 sixes.

On the other hand, Iyer was more aggressive of the two, accumulating a 23-ball 50, laced with 4 sixes and 3 fours.

Tilak Varma, the in-form batter, posted just 6 runs. When it seemed the Kiwis were on the verge of restricting the Men in Blue, all-rounders Naman Dhir and Nitish Kumar Reddy went after the rival bowlers. Dhir scored 33 runs off 23 balls, including 4 boundaries and a maximum.

Reddy faced 17 balls for his 22 and smashed 2 fours and a six. They stitched a 46-run stand for the sixth wicket.

Their dismissals kept the overall score down as the Mitchell Santner-led team bowled well in the overs.

Overall, Milne claimed 4 wickets while Nathan Smith and Blair Tickner dismissed two batters each.

India have already won the series, following their three consecutive victories. Although New Zealand pulled one back, the visitors were flawless in the first three outings.
