Mumbai Indians have parted ways with their coaches Lasith Malinga, Paras Mhambrey, and Carl Hopkinson. Malinga has been associated with the five-time champions for a long time. He represented the franchise for 11 years and joined the support staff as bowling mentor in 2018. He became the team’s fast bowling coach ahead of the IPL 2024, replacing former New Zealand speedster Shane Bond.
Mhambrey was the additional bowling coach while Hopkinson was taking care of the fielding department.
“Mumbai Indians today announced that Lasith Malinga, Paras Mhambrey and Carl Hopkinson will be moving on from their respective roles in the men’s team coaching setup, thanking each of them for their commitment, contribution and service to the franchise,” the franchise said in a statement.
“Mumbai Indians extend their heartfelt gratitude to Lasith, Paras and Carl for their contributions to the team and the wider MI family. Their commitment, the relationships they have built and the memories they have helped create will always be part of our journey. We wish each of them the very best in their future endeavours.
The owners of the franchises are changing the support staff after ordinary performances. Kieron Pollard was recently named as the new head coach after Mahela Jayawardene left the team.
The franchise is expected to announce new batting, bowling and fielding coaches ahead of the IPL 2027.
