Prabhakaran Thanraj will take charge of the International Cricket Council ’s (ICC) Communications function alongside his existing role as Vice President – Marketing and Business Development, as part of an organisational restructuring.

Thanraj joined the ICC in January 2025. He has previously held senior positions with the Board of Control for Cricket in India ( BCCI ) and the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).

He brings experience across marketing, commercial operations and communications, along with an understanding of the media’s role in promoting and growing cricket worldwide.

The ICC said the restructuring was aimed at supporting the continued growth of cricket globally.

The move brings the organisation’s communications leadership under an executive who has experience across both the commercial and media-facing aspects of the sport.

The ICC has been working to expand cricket’s global reach, with communication and marketing playing an important role in engaging audiences across established and emerging markets. Thanraj’s experience with the BCCI and ACC is expected to be relevant as the governing body continues to promote the game internationally.
