Team India's young opening batsman Abhishek Sharma created such a storm in the third T20 match against New Zealand that the opposing bowlers had no answer. Abhishek played an explosive inning of 113 runs in just 38 balls and gave India a spectacular victory. But amidst this explosive performance, his mentor and Team India's veteran player Yuvraj Singh took such a dig at his fifty that even after scoring a century, Abhishek had to give an explanation.
Yuvraj jokingly wrote on social media, “You still can't score 50 runs in 12 balls, right?” In fact, in the 2007 T20 World Cup, Yuvraj had completed his half-century in just 12 balls by hitting six sixes in one over of England's Stuart Broad. In such a situation, even Abhishek could not stop himself from giving a funny answer to this question of his guru.
During the conversation during the match, Abhishek said that he did not know what kind of cricket Yuvraj was playing at that time, but scoring 50 runs in 12 balls is not at all easy. Such a performance is seen only occasionally.
Abhishek also made it clear that his aim is not to create a personal record but to help the team win.He credited his brilliant innings to the preparation of the coaches and the strategy made with Vaibhav Suryavanshi. After this answer of Abhishek, Yuvraj Singh also praised his disciple profusely. In another post, he jokingly wrote that he himself cannot score a century in 30 or 34 balls. This funny conversation on social media between guru and disciple is attracting the attention of cricket fans. On one hand, Yuvraj is pulling Abhishek's leg in his own style, while on the other hand, the young batsman is continuously achieving new heights with his performance.
Talking about the match, India had a target of 199 runs, which the team achieved by losing four wickets in just 13.2 overs on the basis of Abhishek Sharma's stormy century and Vaibhav Suryavanshi's aggressive start. India won the match by six wickets and took an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match T20 series. Abhishek scored 113 runs in 38 balls, while Vaibhav Suryavanshi played a brilliant inning of 45 runs.
Abhishek was adjudged Player of the Match for his excellent performance.
This was his fourth century in T20 international cricket. His explosive batting gave a big blow to New Zealand's hopes of making a comeback in the series. Now the Indian team will look to win the remaining matches and wipe out New Zealand 5-0 in the series.
