Former India player Yuvraj Singh hilariously trolled Abhishek Sharma after the latter completed his fifty in 15 balls in the third T20I against New Zealand. Yuvraj scored a half-century in 12 balls against England in the 2007 T20 World Cup in South Africa and holds the second spot in the list of fastest T20Is.
Abhishek has been coached by Yuvraj, and the legendary all-rounder often opines on the performance of the young batter.
“You still can’t get 50 of 12. Can you? Looks like the two left-handers were batting in their backyard,” Yuvraj wrote.
He was highlighting the performance of Abhishek and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, with the two adding 133 runs for the first wicket in 7.1 overs. The Men in Blue were 118/0 in the powerplay overs, a new world record for the most runs in six overs of a T20I match.
Former New Zealand pacer Simon Doull informed Abhishek about Yuvraj’s social media message.
“I have said this before. I don’t know what cricket he was playing at the time (smiles). If anyone wants to go out and bat like that, it is not easy. It is not easy to get a fifty in 12 balls. But we do not think about that, as we want to win the match for our team,” Abhishek said.
He scored 113 runs off 38 balls, with the help of 11 sixes and 9 fours. Abhishek was named the Player of the Match as his knock led the team to a six-wicket win in a 199-run chase. On the other hand, Sooryavanshi posted 45 off 19, laced with 4 fours and 4 sixes. India reached the target in just 13.2 overs, winning their third consecutive match and also the series. With two more games left, the visitors will go for a clean sweep.
