India, led by Shreyas Iyerhave made a fantastic start to the tour of New Zealand with two successive wins in the opening two T20I contests. On both occasions, the team went on to win in the last over of the game with four wickets in hand.

Former India batter Aakash Chopra named his likely playing XI for the game.

The 48-year-old has urged the team management to persist with Prince Yadav on Tuesday, after his brilliant bowling spell in the second match. He also said that the team should continue with the same combination rather than playing an extra spinner.

“Till the last game, I was saying that a spinner should be played since it was a used surface at the Hagley Oval, where the ground was big in size.

I won’t say the same for Wellington, since the venue will host just one match and the wicket will have enough in it for the pacers. So I wouldn’t want the spinners to be played here.”

“India would need three fast bowlers at this venue, and one spin bowler might be enough. I don’t think the team needs to change anything. I can see Prince Yadav retain his spot in the team, and if the team keeps alternating between him and Mayank, then it doesn’t do any good for them. Having said that, I won’t be surprised if Mayank Yadav plays the game.”

Former batter wants Vaibhav Sooryavanshi to open

Vaibhav Sooryavanshiwho replaced injured Ishan Kishan, batted at no.3. Many former players questioned the decision.

“The team is trying to make players ready and looking to move forward. Vaibhav has already been benched for many games, so people were wondering about his confidence. In such cases, it is difficult to show good form. If he is given a chance to play, then he must open the batting,” Aakash Chopra said.
