According to the report of Indian Express, Wasim Jaffer, who has scored 57 centuries in first class, has applied for the position of coach in the next season of Ranji Trophy. The surprising thing is that Australian fast bowler Shaun Tait has also shown interest in becoming a coach in Ranji Trophy.

Wasim Jaffer and Shaun Tate have applied for the same Ranji team. According to the Indian Express report, the Punjab Cricket Association official revealed that they have received 45 applications for coaching the senior team. This includes two big names like Jaffer and Tate. The selection process is still going on and the name of the head coach can be announced by next week.

A rumor has also spread among the fans about Jaffer. The rumor is that Preity Zinta's franchise Punjab Kings in IPL has approached him to become their coach in IPL 2025. However, there is no confirmation of this yet. Whether Jaffer joins Punjab Kings in the next season or not will be known only after the decision of PCA. If he does not become the head coach of Punjab's Ranji team, then there will be a chance for him in IPL.

Punjab Kings want to change coach

The team has not performed well under the current head coach of Punjab Kings, Trevor Bayliss. He joined the team in 2022. Since then, he has coached the team in 42 matches, winning 24 and losing 18. During this period, the win percentage of the Punjab team was only 42.9 percent. Therefore, Preity Zinta now wants to remove him from this job and bring in a new coach. Hence, there were rumors about Jaffer being made the coach.
