Nitish Kumar Reddy is an Indian batting all-rounder from Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. Born on 26 May 2003, he bats right-handed and bowls right-arm medium-fast. He represents India, Andhra, and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), and is 23 years old.
Reddy first caught the eye in age-group cricket. During the 2017–18 Vijay Merchant Trophy, he piled up 1,237 runs for Andhra Under-16s, including a triple-century and a 441 against Nagaland. That record-setting season made it clear he was more than just a specialist batter. He made his first-class debut for Andhra against Kerala at Ongole from 27 to 29 January 2020.
His List A debut followed against Vidarbha on 20 February 2021, and his senior T20 debut for Andhra came against Jammu and Kashmir on 4 November 2021. Those appearances gave him a route through all three domestic formats while he kept developing as a seam-bowling option.
Reddy made his T20I debut against Bangladesh in Gwalior on 6 October 2024. Three days later, in only his second T20I, he scored 74 from 34 balls and took 2 for 23 in Delhi. India won by 86 runs, and Reddy was named Player of the Match. His Test debut came against Australia in Perth from 22 to 25 November 2024.
During the series, he supplied useful lower-order runs and seam bowling before producing his defining early international innings at Melbourne. He reached his maiden Test hundred on 28 December 2024 and ended that day's play on 105 not out. His final first-innings score was 114, helping India respond after Australia had made 474. Reddy also made his ODI debut against Australia in Perth on 19 October 2025. The dates and format milestones above are drawn from his player record and match reporting available by the reference date.
SRH bought Reddy before IPL 2023.
He played two matches in his first season. In IPL 2024, his role expanded sharply: he scored 303 runs at a strike rate of 142.92 and took three wickets as SRH reached the final. His 64 against Punjab Kings and unbeaten 76 against Rajasthan Royals were two important winning contributions during that campaign. He was named IPL 2024 Emerging Player of the Year. SRH retained him for IPL 2025 at a reported value of ₹6 crore, a major rise from the ₹20 lakh the franchise had paid for him in 2023. The IPL's official 2026 retention announcement also lists Nitish Kumar Reddy among SRH's retained players, confirming his franchise status for that season.
His IPL 2025 returns were more modest than the previous year, with 182 runs and two wickets according to his player record. By the 2026 season, he remained a middle-order all-rounder for SRH. His recent match record includes 29 not out and 1 for 11 against Punjab Kings on 5 May 2026.
Reddy's value comes from the two skills he can offer in the same XI. As a batter, he is a right-handed middle-order player who can increase the scoring rate quickly, especially in T20 cricket.
His 74 from 34 balls against Bangladesh showed clean striking and the ability to attack spin without needing a long start. His longer-format batting is more patient. The 114 at Melbourne showed that he could absorb pressure, protect the lower order and still punish loose bowling when the opportunity came. That innings was built in a very different setting from his T20I half-century, which is why it remains an important part of his development. With the ball, Reddy is a right-arm medium-fast seamer rather than a frontline strike bowler. He can take the new ball for Andhra and provide a few overs in limited-overs cricket. For SRH, those overs give the side flexibility: he can contribute without the team treating him as its main bowler.
