India's Tilak Varma paid the price for being too relaxed during the third T20I against West Indies on Sunday. The batter assumed his partner Axar Patel had hit a boundary, so he casually strolled across the pitch without worrying about returning to his crease. That mistake proved costly.

West Indies bowler Gudakesh Motie spotted the opportunity and quickly removed the bails. When the third umpire reviewed the play, it turned out that a West Indies fielder had made a brilliant diving effort to stop the ball from reaching the boundary rope. What seemed like a certain four was actually a live ball, and Tilak was caught short of his ground.

The incident happened in the 17th over.
Axar flicked Motie's delivery towards deep mid-wicket, where a fielder dove to save the boundary. Both batters believed the ball had touched the rope, so they took their time completing the run. Axar made it back safely, but Tilak was not so lucky. He had to walk back after scoring 28 runs off just 16 balls.

Despite the setback, Tilak's quickfire knock helped India post 223/10 on the board. The hosts eventually won the match by 14 runs, thanks to opener Abhishek's brilliant 69 off 30 balls.
India now leads the five-match series 2-1.

Captain Shreyas Iyer praised his bowlers after the win, saying it was great to see them step up with confidence. "The clarity was very much visible when I was interacting with them. They were ready to take up the challenge, and that's exactly what we want," he said.

The first two games had gone the batting team's way, with West Indies chasing down 250 on Friday to level the series. But this time, India's bowlers held their nerve and sealed the victory.
