Before the start of the three-match T20 series against India, the Sri Lankan cricket team has suffered a second setback in 24 hours. After fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera, now fast bowler Nuwan Tushara has also been ruled out of the T20 series. Tushara injured his left hand finger during training due to which he has been ruled out of at least the T20 series against India.

Team manager Mahinda Halangoda told ESPNcricinfo that the injury was to the hand with which he does not bowl but still, the injury is serious enough to rule him out. Halangoda said the injury occurred late Wednesday night when the Sri Lankan team was training under lights. During that time Tushara was practicing fielding.

He is the second Sri Lankan fast bowler to be ruled out of the series. On Wednesday, Sri Lanka announced that Dushmantha Chameera has been ruled out due to illness and has been replaced by Asitha Fernando. The player who will replace Tushara has not been named yet, but it could be left-arm bowler Dilshan Madushanka.

Thushara has been a part of Sri Lanka's T20 playing XI consistently this year. He was one of their best bowlers in the T20 World Cup, taking eight wickets in the three matches played by Sri Lanka. Earlier this year, he also took a T20 International hat-trick against Bangladesh, taking 5 wickets for 20 runs. So, his exclusion after Chameera will be a big blow for Sri Lanka. The first T20 International match between Sri Lanka and India will be played on Saturday (July 27).
