The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) could step in financially if needed to ensure England’s women play a Test in the West Indies next spring. The match is planned as part of a multi-format series and is considered important preparation for England’s 2027 Ashes campaign.

Cricket West Indies (CWI) recently announced several cost-cutting measures, including reductions in player contracts. Earlier this year, it also cancelled a planned women’s Test against Australia, although the rest of that tour went ahead.

There have been no talks about cancelling England’s Test, and the wider tour, which includes three T20s and three ODIs, is not currently under threat.
