Mumbai allrounder Suryansh Shedge replaces injured Hardik Pandya in India A squad for Australia A ODIs
MUMBAI: Mumbai's young all-rounder Suryansh Shedge has replaced injured India all-rounder Hardik Pandya in the India A squad , which will play three one-dayers against Australia A from Tuesday in Puducherry .
“Shedge had gone to the BCCI 's Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru for a fitness assessment, and after being cleared by the CoE's medical team, left for Puducherry yesterday,” a source tracking developments told TOI on Sunday.
The matches are scheduled for October 6, 9 and 11.
Hardik Pandya has reportedly experienced discomfort in his right calf. Pandya became aware of the issue after undergoing a fitness assessment on September 19. An MRI after the assessment revealed very mild intramedullary oedema, which is consistent with right medial tibial stress syndrome.
The development means Shedge will miss Mumbai's Ranji Trophy opener against Chandigarh at the Wankhede Stadium from October 11.
A minor quadriceps injury had kept the 23-year-old out of action lately, but the all-rounder is now fit to return to action.
Shedge played three T20Is for India during the tours of Ireland, England and Zimbabwe in June-July. However, he missed out on being named in the India and Rest of India squads due to his injury and also did not feature in any of Mumbai's pre-season tournaments.
Shedge performed impressively for India A in a tri-series in Sri Lanka in June. Batting in the middle order, the 23-year-old scored 147 runs in five matches and also chipped in with the ball, bowling 23 overs across the tournament.
He was also one of the standout performers for Mumbai in their victorious Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy campaign in 2024-25, scoring 131 runs at a strike rate of 251.92 in the lower middle order.
