Injury blow for India: Prasidh Krishna ruled out of third ODI vs West Indies, CSK pacer named replacement
NEW DELHI: Fast bowler Prasidh Krishna will miss the third and final ODI against West Indies after suffering a hamstring injury during the second match in Guwahati on Wednesday, September 30. Anshul Kamboj has been added to India's squad as his replacement.
Prasidh picked up the injury while bowling in the second ODI and was able to bowl only five overs. India won the match by eight wickets after chasing down West Indies' 405 for seven with 39 balls to spare.
Kamboj was part of the India A squad for the second four-day match against Australia A but left the game on the second day and has travelled to Chandigarh. Praful Hinge has been named as his replacement in the India A side.
Kamboj had taken three wickets in the first innings of the second four-day match between the two teams.
The 24-year-old will compete with Mohammed Siraj for a place in India's playing XI for the third ODI. Siraj is also part of the ODI squad but did not feature in either of the first two matches.
Siraj is the most likely option to replace Prasidh in the XI. However, if the team management also decides to leave Auqib Nabi Dar out after his first ODI appearance, Kamboj could get an opportunity.
India have already taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
The third ODI will be played in New Chandigarh on Saturday, October 3.
