Delhi: The West Indies cricket team has suffered a big blow during the ODI series against India. All-rounder Justin Greaves, who played a brilliant century in the first ODI match played in Thiruvananthapuram, has been ruled out of the second ODI to be held in Guwahati due to injury. Greaves has suffered a muscle strain, due to which he will not be seen on the field in the upcoming match.

Did not field after scoring a century

Justin Greaves emerged as the biggest hero for West Indies in the first ODI.

Facing the Indian bowlers bravely, he played an excellent inning of 101 runs in 108 balls. This was the first international century of his ODI career.

However, during this historic innings, he became a victim of strain. The injury was so serious that after West Indies' batting ended, Greaves could not even come on the field to field in the second innings.

Caribbean team had made a strong score

Apart from this fighting century by Greaves, John Campbell and Aamir Jangu also played half-centuries, on the basis of which West Indies scored a challenging score of 295 runs on the board.

However, this score also proved to be small in front of the Indian team. Thanks to the explosive centuries of Virat Kohli and captain Shubman Gill, India achieved the target in just 41.4 overs and took a 1-0 lead in the series.

West Indies face the challenge of saving the series

Now the second match of this three-match ODI series is to be played on September 30 at Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati. The absence of such an in-form batsman due to injury is no less than a big blow for the West Indies.

The third and final ODI of the series will be played in Chandigarh on 3 October. After this, a five-match T20 International series is to be played between the two teams from October 6 to October 17. The Caribbean camp will hope that Greaves can recover as soon as possible and return for the T20 series.
