Sunday proved to be a historic day for Indian squash at the Asian Games 2026. India's star squash player Abhay Singh and just 18-year-old Anahat Singh won silver medals by reaching the finals of men's and women's singles. Although both the players missed out on winning the gold medal in their respective title matches, their brilliant performance has created a new history in Indian sports.

Let us tell you, Abhay Singh became only the second Indian player after Saurabh Ghoshal to reach the men's singles final of the Asian Games. In the title match, Abhay faced Malaysia's top player Ivan Yow, where the Malaysian player won in straight games 3-0 (11-9, 11-4, 11-4). Abhay gave a tough fight in the first game, but the Malaysian player dominated in the subsequent two games.

At the same time, in the final of women's singles, 18-year-old Anahat Singh faced Malaysia's Sivasangari Subramaniam. Subramaniam won the gold medal by defeating Anahat 3-0 (11-4, 11-4, 11-7). Even though Anahat had to face defeat, she has become the first Indian female squash player in the history of Asian Games to reach the women's singles final and win a silver medal.
