Delhi: In the second ODI being played at Headingley, Leeds, Sri Lanka has set a difficult target of 322 runs for England, thanks to a brilliant century by captain Kusal Mendis. Mendis pair did wonders

Sri Lanka had a good start, but Pathum Nissanka became the victim of Gus Atkinson at the score of 45 after scoring 25 runs.

After this, captain Kusal Mendis and Kamindu Mendis took charge of the innings and attacked the England bowlers.

There was an unmatched partnership of 137 runs between the two batsmen for the second wicket. Kamindu Mendis faced 65 balls and scored 54 runs. His innings included 4 fours and 3 sixes.

Brilliant century by captain Kusal Mendis

Kusal Mendis played captaincy innings and took Sri Lanka to a big score. He scored 121 runs in 100 balls, which included 14 fours and 3 sixes.

This was Mendis's seventh century in the ODI format. His innings played an important role in taking Sri Lanka's score beyond 300.

Pawan Ratnayake also scored quickly in the lower order. He played an innings of 48 runs in 39 balls. Whereas Janith Liyanage scored 32 runs on 26 balls. With the help of these fast innings, Sri Lanka scored 321 runs in 50 overs.

Atkinson and Rehan Ahmed took 2-2 wickets

Gus Atkinson was the most successful bowler for England. He took 2 wickets for 55 runs in 10 overs. Spinner Rehan Ahmed also sent 2 batsmen to the pavilion after giving away 48 runs in 8 overs.

Joffra Archer got one wicket, but he proved costly. He spent 68 runs in his 10 overs.
