Mumbai Indians has appointed Luke Williams as its new head coach ahead of the 2027 Women’s Premier League season, with Lisa Keightley moving on from the role.

A three-time recipient of the Bradman Medal for grade cricket (2005-06, 2007-08 and 2009-10), Williams has spent two decades coaching in Australia, England and India. He has also served as an assistant coach with the England women’s team since 2025.

Williams guided Adelaide Strikers to its maiden Women’s Big Bash League title in 2022 and helped the side retain the trophy in 2023. He was also the head coach when Royal Challengers Bengaluru won its first major trophy, across both the men’s and women’s teams, by claiming the WPL title in 2024.

Mumbai Indians has won two of the WPL’s four editions, lifting the title in 2023 and 2025 under captain Harmanpreet Kaur.
