Suresh Raina is backing Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli for the 2027 ODI World Cup in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia. The veteran cricketer feels the duo’s proven track record and experience will increase India’s chances of winning the tournament.

Speaking to reporters in New Delhi, Raina highlighted the importance of keeping experienced players in the squad for the global event. Rohit and Virat are only active in the fifty-over format, having retired from T20Is in 2024 and Test cricket in 2025.

“We have a run machine and a captain who have won trophies for the country and the IPL. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma need no introduction because I have played matches with them. Kohli is a great player. We will be playing the World Cup in South Africa and Zimbabwe, and we have a 90 percent chance of winning the trophy if these two are present in the playing XI,” Raina said.

Raina also congratulated the women’s team for winning the gold medal in the Asian Games 2026. Harmanpreet Kaur-led India defeated Sri Lanka by 147 runs in the final.
