Smriti Mandhana reached a historic milestone in the Asian Games 2026 women’s cricket semi-final against Bangladesh , becoming the first Indian woman to hit 100 sixes in T20 internationals.
The India opener achieved the landmark during a blistering start at Korogi Sports Park on Sunday, as India looked to secure a place in the gold-medal match.
Mandhana struck 37 off just 19 deliveries, hitting five fours and two sixes before being dismissed by Nahida Akter. Attempting to clear the boundary once again, she mistimed a slog sweep and was caught by Sobhana Mostary at deep mid-wicket.
Her quickfire knock helped India race to 71/1 in the powerplay, after captain Harmanpreet Kaur had won the toss and elected to bat first.
Mandhana breaks new ground
The milestone added to Mandhana’s growing list of achievements in the shortest format. During the same innings, she also surpassed New Zealand’s Suzie Bates to become the leading run-scorer in women’s T20I cricket. Mandhana moved to 4,788 career T20I runs, going past Bates’ 4,758. India captain Harmanpreet Kaur followed in third place on the all-time list with 4,287 runs.
