Delhi: The problem that arose regarding the Asian Games kit of the Indian men's cricket team before leaving for Japan has now been resolved. The players of the team have received the official kit of the correct size. In such a situation, now the team captained by Shreyas Iyer will be able to focus on its campaign in the Asian Games without any problem.

India will take the field wearing its regular BCCI jersey in the T20 International match against Japan on September 22. After this, the team will be seen in the official Asian Games kit in the Asian Games matches.

There was a problem regarding the size of the kit

Actually, some players were not able to get the right size clothes regarding the kit of the Indian team for the Asian Games. Talks were going on regarding this between BCCI and JSW Inspire, the official kit supplier of the Indian Olympic Association.

Some members of the team were waiting for the right size kit. This also raised concerns whether the players would be able to get their official kits by the time the tournament starts or not. However, now this matter has been completely resolved.

A source in the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports told ANI, “Team India will wear BCCI jersey in the match against Japan. The team has received the kits for the remaining matches of the Asian Games and the matter has been resolved.”

Jersey will be different against Japan

The match between India and Japan on September 22 is not a part of the Asian Games competition. This is a different T20 International match. Therefore, in this match the Indian team will play in its regular international jersey only.

This match will be played at Sano International Cricket Ground in Tochigi Prefecture. This will also be the first international match between the men's teams of India and Japan.

This match is being organized on the occasion of completion of 75 years of diplomatic relations between India and Japan. This match is also part of the 'Sport 75' initiative.

BCCI Secretary also expressed happiness

BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia had earlier described this match as a special opportunity for Indian cricket. He had said that the Indian team playing in Japan would provide an opportunity to take cricket to new audiences there and in East Asia.

Saikia said, “BCCI is happy to be a part of this historic occasion when the Indian and Japanese men's teams will face each other in a special T20 International match in Japan. This is a special moment for cricket, as the Indian team is going to a new country and this will give an opportunity to take cricket to more people in Japan and East Asia.”

Team India will defend the title in Asian Games

After the match against Japan, the Indian team will defend its title in the Asian Games. India won the gold medal in men's cricket in the Asian Games played in Hangzhou in 2023.
