Delhi: England defeated Sri Lanka by six wickets in the second match of the three-match T20 series, thanks to the lethal bowling of Liam Dawson and later a strong stormy half-century by Tom Banton. Batting first, Sri Lanka could score only 145 runs, in reply England achieved the target in just 12.1 overs. With this, England also won the series.

England got an easy victory due to Banton's stormy innings

England had a great start while chasing the target of 146 runs.

Jos Buttler and Aneurin Donald added 51 runs in just 28 balls for the first wicket. Donald became the victim of Ishan Malinga after scoring 21 runs in 13 balls. After this, Butler also lost his wicket in the next over. Butler played a quick inning of 30 runs in 16 balls.

After Butler's dismissal, captain Harry Brook started batting vigorously. He scored 23 runs in eight balls, but Wanindu Hasaranga ended the England captain's innings. England's score became 79 at the loss of three wickets in seven overs. It seemed that Sri Lanka would give a tough fight to England in this match, but the Sri Lankan bowlers failed in front of Banton.

Banton played an unbeaten inning of 52 runs in 24 balls. He hit two fours and four sixes in his innings. Because of his innings, England achieved this target with just 47 balls remaining. For Sri Lanka, Dushmantha Chameera, Wanindu Hasaranga, Ishan Malinga and Tharindu Ratnayake got one wicket each.

Sri Lankan batsmen did not bat in front of Dawson

Liam Dawson played an important role in restricting Sri Lanka to a score of just 145. Sri Lanka started the innings well and added 56 runs for the first wicket.

Lahiru Udara and Pathum Nissanka were batting brilliantly. England was in dire need of wickets. In such a situation, Dawson brought England back into the match by dismissing Udara and Kamil Mishara in two consecutive balls.

Udara scored 21 runs in 20 balls and Mishara returned to the pavilion without opening the account on the very first ball. After this, Sri Lanka kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Sri Lanka's score suddenly became 95/5. After this, Charith Asalanka and Hasaranga took over the innings for some time, both added 44 runs for the sixth wicket, but as soon as this partnership broke, it became difficult for Sri Lanka to score runs.

Nissanka played the biggest innings for Sri Lanka. He added 37 runs in 21 balls. Apart from them, Asalanka contributed 31 runs and Hasaranga contributed 27 runs, due to which Sri Lanka was able to reach a respectable score. For England, Dawson took three wickets for 32 runs. He was chosen player of the match for his excellent bowling.
