The ICC has formed a committee which included three directors, including former New Zealand batter Roger Twose, Lawson Naidoo and Imran Khawaja, who is the Deputy Chair of the ICC. 'The ICC Board confirmed that there will be a review into the delivery of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024,' ICC in its release stated.
It is to be noted that this decision by the ICC comes after the international board incurred over USD 20 million loss for conducting matches in New York, Florida and Dallas. The tournament's expenses in the US leapfrogged the allocated budget by huge margin. This mismanagement forced two of the ICC officials to put down the papers, who were reportedly asked to stay until the Women's T20 World, which is scheduled to be played in Bangladesh this year and the Champions Trophy 2025.
ICC puts up suspension notice to USA and Chile Cricket
Amid this, USA Cricket has been jolted with a massive setback as the International Cricket Council (ICC) has put up a suspension notice despite their stunning display in the T20 World Cup 2024. Moreover, along with the USA Cricket, Chile Cricket also has been formally put on notice and given 12 months to comply with ICC's Associate Membership criteria.
It is to be further noted that the USA Cricket has been in breach of Associate Members Protocols on two counts, firstly not having a full-time CEO and another of not having recognition of the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee.
