LUCKNOW: It was double delight for Uttar Pradesh’s young leg-spinner and allrounder Vipraj Nigam after he earned both a place in the India ‘A’ squad for the home one-day series against Australia ‘A’ and a place in India’s Asian Games squad. Nigam has been included after senior spinner Varun Chakravarthy was ruled out of the continental event with a side strain.

Nigam learnt about his selection while attending a two-day spinners’ camp at the Centre of Excellence (CoE). “I’m currently at a two-day camp at the NCA and only today I found out that I’ve received a call-up for the Asian Games. It feels great. I had a feeling that my name might come up for a series at some point, but I never expected the opportunity to come this quickly,” Nigam told TOI.
