West Indies all-rounder Romario Shepherd is a terrific hitter of the ball and a decent pace bowler. The 32-year-old has played key roles in Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s two IPL title wins in the last two seasons. The veteran star is now gearing up to play the first qualifier for Guyana Amazon Warriors against Antigua and Barbuda Falcons in the Caribbean Premier League 2026.

The player was asked to name the toughest batters he has bowled to. Without hesitation, Shepherd named Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharmaand his teammate Shai Hope.

Virat has been with RCB from the start of the IPL in 2008 and is the leading run-getter in the league’s history. The 38-year-old scored over 600 runs in the 19th season, including his 75 not out in the final. Rohit began his career with Deccan Chargers before his move to Mumbai Indians ahead of the 2011 season.

The 39-year-old replaced Ricky Ponting as the captain in 2013 and took the team to five IPL title wins and one Champions League trophy. Shai Hope is regarded as one of the best current-day Windies batters and is renowned for his stroke play.

When asked how it is to play with Kohli, the all-rounder said, “It is good to play with him because you get good insights about how a great player like him thinks. He shares a lot in the dressing room, so it is great to have him around.”

The cricketer was also asked to reveal his greatest cricketing moment of his career and and the loudest crowd moment. “Making my international debut and getting my cap from Dwayne Bravo, my idol. Got to be Guyana, when we won the CPL for the first time.”

This year, the 32-year-old has played 10 matches and claimed 7 wickets at an economy rate of 9.9 runs per over. With the bat, Shepherd has scored 56 runs at a strike rate of 156. For RCB, the player has played 33 games, scoring 351 runs and also taking 13 wickets.

CPL 2026 set for tantalising finish

The eliminator game on Thursday (4;30 am IST) will feature Barbados Tridents and Jamaica Kingsmen. On Friday (5:30 am IST), the Warriors and Falcons will play each other in Qualifier 1, and the winner will qualify for the final.
