Delhi: Indian cricket team's wicket-keeper batsman Sanju Samson is as aggressive as he looks on the field, but his style outside the field is equally calm. After playing a stormy innings of 57 runs in just 22 balls in the second T20 match against Afghanistan, Sanju spoke openly about his mentality, the words of critics and the challenge he was getting from 15-year-old young sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi.

'I try to keep WiFi off'

Sanju responded to the constant discussions about his place in Team India and the statements of former players in a funny but frank manner.

He said, “I try to keep my 'WiFi' off, so that outside things do not reach me. But sometimes the Wi-Fi turns on and comments start appearing. If a senior player says something, I think it is very normal.”

Samson admitted that while playing for India, outside noise definitely affects the players.

He said,

“We are human beings, not robots or machines to say that it doesn't matter to us. It definitely does matter and earlier I too used to feel a little sad. But now I have matured enough to know how to handle it. If I pay attention to these things, I will not be able to bat like this. Before playing a shot, I will think ten times that 'If my friend is out then there will be a WiFi problem', so now I tell myself – 'No problem.'”

What did 15 year old Vaibhav say about competition with Suryavanshi?

Sanju was dropped from the Zimbabwe tour after not being able to do anything special on the tour of Ireland and England.

On that tour, 15 year old Vaibhav Suryavanshi caught everyone's attention with his performance, due to which the competition for the opening slot of Team India has increased further.

Sanju showed very positive thinking regarding the competition with Vaibhav. He said that to the outside world we (I, Vaibhav and Abhishek Sharma) may be each other's competitors, but inside the dressing room we are a team and playing for the country.

For us, the team's victory matters first, personal matters come later.

“Complaining doesn't help”

Sanju, who has captaincy experience in IPL, also admitted that it is not easy for the team management to choose the playing eleven. When many players are performing well, someone has to sit out.

Samson said in this context that we cannot sit sad with negative thinking thinking that friend, I did not get a chance, why did I give it to him? This kind of mentality doesn't work here.
