South African captain Laura Wolvaardt levelled with Indian vice-captain Smriti Mandhana for most international hundreds in the women’s game during the third T20I against Zimbabwe in Bulawayo on Tuesday.

Wolvaardt struck an unbeaten 126 off 62 balls to notch up her 18th international hundred, equalling Smriti’s tally. Smriti’s latest century came in the Women’s Asia Cup when she struck 124 against Hong Kong.

Wolvaardt’s innings featured 16 fours and four sixes as she struck at an imperious 203.22.

Both Smriti and Wolvaardt have overtaken Meg Lanning’s tally of 17 international tons, which for a long time, was the mark to beat.

Her century alongside a half century for Karabo Meso and a five-wicket haul for Annerie Derkcsen helped South Africa take an unasssailable 3-0 lead in the five-match T20I series. Wolvaardt and Meso stitched an unbeaten 173-run stand for the second wicket as South Africa finished with 200/1 in 20 overs. Zimbabwe, in response, were bowled out for 120.
