A five-wicket haul from Nathan Ellis following a century from Matt Renshaw has set up Australia’s 59-run victory in the 1st ODI match against Zimbabwe played at Harare.
Matt Renshaw smashed 109 runs off 94 deliveries, while Nathan Ellis returned with figures of 5/31, setting up a comfortable win for Australia.
Being invited to bat first, Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head opened the innings, and the latter was dismissed by Brad Evans for 4 runs.
Connolly, who came to bat at No.3, joined Marsh before the opener got dismissed for 36 runs. With Cooper Connolly and Josh Inglis at the crease, Australia scored 65 runs in the powerplay.
With Newman dismissing Josh Inglis for 4 runs, Australia lost 3 wickets for 83 runs. Meanwhile, Cooper Connolly scored 51 runs and stabilised the innings before being dismissed by Sikandar Raza.
Alex Carey scored 27 runs before his dismissal as Australia lost 5 wickets for 179 runs. Matt Renshaw, who came to bat at No. 6, took a solid stance, smashed fifty and showed resistance.
Oliver Peake, who added 30 runs, was sent back to the dugout by Newman Nyamhuri. Bartlett got dismissed cheaply for 5 runs while Matt Renshaw smashed a century.

Chasing a 295-run target, Brian Bennett and Ben Curran opened the innings while Johnson opened the bowling attack.
Bartlett bagged the first wicket, dismissing Ben Curran for a duck, while Nathan Ellis dismissed Innocent Kaia for 18 runs. Ellis bagged his second wicket in the same over, dismissing Bennett for 25 runs.
With Brendan Taylor and Craig Ervine at the crease, Zimbabwe scored 48 runs in the powerplay.
Ervine and Sikandar Raza made a 98-run partnership for the 5th wicket, where the former scored 59 runs before his dismissal.
Raza scored 57 runs before being bowled out by Spencer Johnson. Brad Evans and Wellington Masakadza did add up some crucial runs, 18 and 14 respectively.
Nathan Ellis completed his five-wicket haul, dismissing Wellington Masakadza and Newman Nyamhuri as Zimbabwe lost all 10 wickets for 235 runs.
Apart from Ellis, Spencer Johnson, Xavier Bartlett, Matt Renshaw, Adam Zampa and Cooper Connolly bagged one wicket each.
