Apart from Team India's title win in the T20 World Cup 2024, if any one match created the most sensation, it was the match between America and Pakistan. The US team, playing the World Cup for the first time, created a sensation by defeating former champion Pakistan in a thrilling Super Over. The US team not only defeated Pakistan but also qualified for the next World Cup by making it to the Super-8 round. But now this US team is in danger of being banned because the ICC has given a notice for not following the Cricket Board rules.
To popularise cricket in America, the T20 World Cup was organised for the first time in this country. As the host, America got direct entry into it and this team full of immigrants won everyone's heart with its strong performance. The reward for reaching the Super-8 was qualification for the T20 World Cup to be held in India in 2026, but all this will go in vain if USA Cricket (Board) does not listen to the ICC.
This decision was taken in the two-day ICC conference held in Colombo. In a press release issued by the ICC, it has been told that a suspension notice has been issued to USA Cricket and Chile Cricket. This notice is for the next 12 months, within which both these cricket boards will have to remove the shortcomings of their organization. In this, most eyes are on USA Cricket (USAC), which is embroiled in many problems. The ICC has issued a notice to it for not following two rules.
According to Cricbuzz's report, USAC is violating ICC's Associate Members Protocol in two cases. First - there is no full-time CEO in the board. Second - USA has not taken recognition from Olympic and Paralympic Association. According to ICC's notice, if USAC does not remove this in the next 12 months, then it will first be suspended and then it can be removed completely. If this happens, then it may be difficult for the USA team to participate in the World Cup to be held in India in 2026.
