Delhi: Indian women's team's star spinner Shri Charani created history against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup final on Sunday. He took four wickets for a total of 20 runs in the match. However, as soon as he took the first wicket in the match, he registered his name in the pages of history. Charani became the first Indian woman player to take more than 35 T20 International wickets in a calendar year for India by dismissing Harshitha Samarawickrama.
Charani now has 39 wickets in his name in T20 International this year. She has become the highest wicket-taker for India in T20 International in a calendar year. Sri Lanka was chasing a big target of 184 runs in the match. But in front of Charani's strong bowling, the Sri Lankan team collapsed for 111 runs. The Indian team won the Asia Cup title for a record eighth time. Charani played an important role in the team's victory.
The hero of the Indian team's victory was opening batsman Shefali Verma. Shefali played a stormy inning of 68 runs in just 39 balls. She made a record partnership of 129 runs for the first wicket with Smriti Mandhana. Mandhana also scored a half-century. He contributed 59 runs.
Due to the strong batting of both the players, the Indian team was successful in scoring a big score. Apart from Charani, Deepti Sharma got three successes. Along with batting, Shefali also did wonders with the ball. He took one wicket for just 23 runs in four overs. Shefali was given the Player of the Match award for her excellent performance.
