Rashid Khan broke a 14-year-old record for Afghanistan in the opening T20I against Paul Stirling's Ireland on Friday, March 15 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
He recorded the best figures by an Afghan captain in T20Is after his spell of 4-0-19-3. Nawroz Mangal held the record for 14 years, since February 2010, before Rashid took over. Mangal had figures of 4-0-23-3 against William Porterfield's Ireland in the final of the World T20 Qualifiers. As far as Rashid is concerned, he got the wickets of Stirling, Curtis Campher and Gareth Delany. On the back of his spell, Afghanistan restricted Ireland to 149 for 6 in 20 overs.
