Will there be a T20I series between India and Pakistan? Plan after Champions Trophy 2025 revealed

Pakistan cricket has a long-standing habit of daydreaming. Sometimes the players or former cricketers of the Pakistani team make big claims that they will defeat this team, create a stir, and sometimes the officials of the Pakistan Cricket Board dream that they will upset the ICC, force it to take decisions according to their wishes. Especially when it comes to the Indian team or the BCCI, this spreads like a disease in the entire Pakistan cricket (former players and fans too). Something similar is happening this time too. While on one hand the situation is not clear on Team India's participation in the Champions Trophy to be held in Pakistan, on the other hand the PCB is trying to play a direct series with India.

Since the political relations between India and Pakistan have deteriorated over the past several years, there has been no bilateral series between the cricket teams of the two countries. The last ODI series between the two countries was played in 2012-13, for which the Pakistani team came to India. But after Pakistan openly supported terrorist incidents in India, this was stopped and now the two teams clash only in tournaments like World Cup-Asia Cup.

Will India and Pakistan play T20 series?

The Pakistan Cricket Board is now hoping to resume the series between the two countries again. A report has stated that PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi is soon going to invite the Indian team to play a T20 series. The report claims that Naqvi will meet BCCI secretary Jay Shah in this matter and will propose to play a T20 series between the two teams at a neutral venue next year. The top officials of both the boards may meet in Sri Lanka, where all of them are going to gather for an important meeting of the ICC. It is believed that the Pakistani board may propose to play this series after the Champions Trophy next year.

Currently, eyes are on the Champions Trophy

Now, for now, it can only be called 'Mungerilal ke Haseen Sapne'. Playing a bilateral series seems far-fetched. The first big challenge before Pakistan is to organize the Champions Trophy completely in its own country. The biggest question is whether Team India will go to Pakistan for this 8-nation tournament to be held in February-March 2025. The Indian government has not allowed Team India to go to Pakistan for the last several years due to security reasons, due to which last year the Asia Cup was also held in Sri Lanka apart from Pakistan. Now the same fate seems certain for the Champions Trophy as at the moment there is no hope of the Indian government changing its stance.
