Although Cricbuzz's report claimed that Gambhir's choice Abhishek Nair and Ryan Tendoshkate have got the approval of BCCI and they will be with him on this tour, but the bowling coach is not available for this tour.

Will remain with the team as a bowling coach

Gautam Gambhir had demanded former South African fast bowler Morne Morkel to be appointed as bowling coach, to which BCCI seems to be agreeing. However, he is not available for this series and in such a situation, to fill his place, the board has decided to send bowling coach Sairaj Bahutule of the National Cricket Academy to Sri Lanka.

Cricbuzz's report has revealed that Bahutule has got this responsibility on this tour on an interim basis.

Former Mumbai spinner Bahutule, who played 2 Tests and 8 ODIs for Team India, has earlier also gone on different tours with Team India, where VVS Laxman had taken charge of the team. Before NCA, Bahutule has also been a part of the coaching staff in IPL. He was also posted as spin bowling coach in Rajasthan Royals captained by Sanju Samson for about 3 years. This will be the first time when he will be on a tour with the full-strength Team India and the main coaching staff.
