England cricketer and Hampshire captain James Vince recently revealed the scary details about two attacks on his family’s home in a village east of Southampton over the past three months. After enjoying the tranquility of their residence for nearly eight years, Vince, his wife, and their two young children were forced to flee their hometown due to the disturbing incidents.
Three months ago, the Vince family was jolted awake in the middle of night by the sound of shattering glass and alarms. Their home and vehicles were vandalized. Just over a month later, after repairing the damage, their house and cars were pelted with bricks.
Fortunately, the second attack was recorded by the family’s newly installed security cameras. The footage showed two unidentified men – one wearing a Gym King hoodie, the other holding a torch and possibly filming – as the hooded figure receives bricks from his accomplice to throw at the property. Neither assailant’s face was visible in the video.
After the attacks, support poured in from Hampshire Cricket, the England and Wales Cricket Board, and the Professional Cricketers’ Association. Hired investigators have made little progress in their inquiries so far. However, the pattern of attacks indicates a likely financial motive, such as unpaid debts.
However, Vince and his wife Amy found no issues in their financial or phone records indicating trouble with anyone. Vince, a typically private individual off the field, has now gone public with a plea for information, hoping to resolve what appears to be a case of mistaken identity.
“If you have any information or observations from the attack footage that could assist the investigation, please contact us or the Hampshire Police. Your tip could be the key to uncovering the truth and helping us move forward,” stated Vince.
“We’ve received tremendous local and cricket community support. Additionally, our private security team has uncovered some promising leads. Any further information would be invaluable, as we’re determined to resolve this matter,” he added.
