Capitals IPL 2024 Playing 11: Delhi Capitals (DC) will kick off their IPL 2024 campaign against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in match number two of the IPL 2024 in Chandigarh Saturday, March 23.
Regular captain Rishabh Pant is set to make his comeback following a 14-month injury lay-off after his near-fatal car accident in December 2022. The BCCI has declared him fit to play as a wicketkeeper-batter, and he is set to take back the captaincy from David Warner. Delhi Capitals endured a horrific run in the 2023 season, losing nine out of their 15 matches to finish at the ninth spot in the ten-team table. The Capitals, who are yet to win an IPL trophy, will look to make a strong start to the tournament. Selecting the right playing eleven would be key, and the Delhi Capitals think tank led by Pant and Ricky Ponting would have the onus of putting the best combination on the park. Delhi Capitals bought England batting sensation for Rs 4 crore in the IPL 2024 auction, but the youngster is set to miss the season to be with his family which is grieving after the death of his grandmother. The form of Prithvi Shaw, and how Pant performs on his much-awaited comeback would also hold the key for Delhi. Delhi released the likes of Rilee Rossouw, Rovman Powell, Manish Pandey, Phil Salt, and Sarfaraz Khan before the auction. The batting-unit will witness a lot of changes.
