Earlier, Pakistan was given the hosting rights in Asia Cup 2023 but BCCI refused to allow Team India to play the tournament in Pakistan keeping in view the security reasons. During this time, the tournament was played on a hybrid model, in which some matches were held in Pakistan and the remaining matches were played in Sri Lanka.
At that time Jai Shah was the President of the Asian Cricket Council. It is being said that if Jai Shah becomes the President of ICC, then there is a possibility that the Champions Trophy 2025 can be played on a hybrid model.
