Pakistan pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi has shown disrespect towards white-ball coach Gary Kirsten during Pakistan‘s recent tours. Additionally, a Geo News report claimed that Afridi was also rude to assistant coach Azhar Mahmood.

The incidents that have been reportedly occurred during Pakistan’s tour of Ireland and also during the T20 World Cup 2024. The team managers did nothing to discipline the pacer despite the accusations.

“The team managers neglected to take any disciplinary action against Shaheen, even though the pacer had exhibited inappropriate behavior towards the coaching staff and team management during recent tours,” stated a source.

According to the source, the board is looking into why the 24-year old got away with his misconduct.

According to the report, the coaches have grown increasingly frustrated by a lack of discipline among certain players during the tour. The board is now reportedly planning to conduct an inquiry into this issue.

“The board is investigating players who have used lobbying tactics and the benefits they have gained from this. Additionally, sources report that the team’s coaches have complained to the PCB chairman about players’ lack of seriousness and disciplinary issues during recent tours,” he continued.

Pakistan’s cricket team has been heavily scrutinized since their disastrous T20 World Cup performance, where they lost to the USA and India and failed to advance past the group stage. Babar Azam, who had recently taken over as captain from Shaheen Afridi, has faced intense criticism from numerous former cricketers.

The board has made the significant decision to remove former cricketers Abdul Razzaq and Wahab Riaz from the selection committee.

It remains to be seen whether the board will make any other major changes in the future.
