Delhi: The Indian cricket team set a big record by winning the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 title. India remained undefeated in the World Cup played in West Indies and America and won the ICC title of this format after 17 years. In such a situation, former legendary batsman Sunil Gavaskar has requested that the Indian government should also honour Rahul Dravid, who has made a significant contribution to Indian cricket like Sachin Tendulkar, with the Bharat Ratna award.

In a recent interview, he said, “It would be most appropriate if the Government of India honours him with the Bharat Ratna. A great player, he led India to its first Test series win on West Indies soil under his captaincy. Also, his record as the third Indian captain to win a Test series on English soil holds some significance. After that he went on to be the national cricket captain and coach of the senior team and he was a brilliant talent. Dravid's achievements made everyone happy.”

Gavaskar said, “His service brought joy to the nation, so he deserves the nation's highest award. Everybody come. Join me in demanding the government to recognise one of India's greatest sons. Isn't it nice to call Rahul Dravid Bharat Ratna?”
