India spinner Ravi Bishnoi has said that the young players are trying their best to take forward the legacy of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja, who retired from the T20Is afer winning the World Cup in the USA and the West Indies. Speaking in Harare after the team’s defeat in the first T20I against Zimbabwe, Bishnoi shed light on performances.

India were stunned by Zimbabwe in the first T20I match of the series on Saturday, 7 July. The Indian couldn’t chase 116 runs. Shubman Gill, Abhishek Sharma, Riyan Parag and Ruturaj Gaikwad were undone by the rival bowlers.

Riyan Parag and Rinku Singh were slammed by fans. Both were dismissed by fast bowler Tendai Chatara. While Riyan scored 2, Rinku managed 1.

“We lacked partnerships. Had someone added 20-30 runs, it could have made a difference,” Bishnoi said.

“The seniors (Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma) has given us the responsibility and it is our duty to take the team forward. We are trying our best,” he added.

India captain Shubman Gill is hoping to stage a comeback.

The second T20I will start at 4:30 PM IST on Sunday.
