ZIM vs IND: India's tour of Zimbabwe consists of five T20Is, with the opening fixture slated to be held on July 6, Saturday at Harare Sports Club in Harare.
All five games of the T20I series will be played at the same venue. Shubman Gill will be leading the Indian cricket team for the first time in T20Is. Meanwhile, the young prospects who performed well in the IPL are duly rewarded with national call-ups. It remains to be seen how the young guns will go about their work in the upcoming T20I series. In this article, we will now take a look at the four players who are likely to make their T20I debut for India. 1. Abhishek Sharma: Abhishek Sharma operated as a dynamic left-handed batsman for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2024 season. He made his mark in the shortest format with his aggressive stroke-play where he took the bowling attack to the cleaners in the powerplay overs. SRH immensely benefited from his services wherein he found boundaries with ease. He scored 484 runs in 16 games, laced with three fifties at a strike rate of 204.22. 2. Sai Sudharsan: Sai Sudharsan has carved out a reputation for himself as a promising young batsman of late. He has shown great signs that he can be the next big thing in Indian cricket. In the last few years, he has perfected the art of building innings steadily and accelerating according to the match situation. The southpaw has the technique and temperament which helps him to play both spin and pace effectively. Sai who has played 3 ODIs for India is all set to make his T20I debut against Zimbabwe. 3. Riyan Parag: Riyan Parag was a totally different player altogether in the previous edition of the IPL for Rajasthan Royals. He showcased calmness, composure and maturity in his batting approach. Parag unleashed his fury with big hits in IPL 2024, which makes him a valuable asset in the shortest format. Apart from that, his leg-spin provides a handy option, particularly in Harare pitch where the pitch offers some assistance to spinners in the middle overs. 4. Dhruv Jurel: Dhruv Jurel announced himself as a talented wicketkeeper-batsman when he donned the national outfit in the red-ball format. The 23-year-old who played three Tests for India will be looking forward to making his T20I debut. He has the potential to play aggressive innings and score at a rate of knots, offering the much-needed impetus in the middle and lower order. Jurel scored 347 runs in 28 appearances at a strike rate of 151.5 including two fifties.
