Virat Kohli was not sure of Team India’s win against South Africa in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 final. With Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller going strong, the game almost skipped away from the hands of the Men in Blue.

The Proteas needed 30 runs off 30 balls at one stage but Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya and Arshdeep Singh not only took crucial wickets but also stopped the flow of runs.

India won the contest by 7 runs to lift the T20 World Cup trophy for the second time. Earlier, Virat scored 76 runs to take the team’s total to 176 in 20 overs.

Kohli spoke about the tense moment during the celebration ceremony at the Wankhede Stadium. Rohit Sharma’s team landed in Delhi on July 4 and then travelled to Mumbai after meeting the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The BCCI arranged a open bus parade for the victorious squad and then a ceremony was organised at the iconic stadium.

Speaking to Gaurav Kapoor, Kohli shed light on Team India’s win.

“I was not sure of our win. I thought this is going to slip away once again. Credit to the bowlers for their superb performance in the death overs. They not only brought us back but also won the match.

“We have been working for this for years. Our only aim was to win the trophy when we took the field. I am glad we achieved our goal,” Virat Kohli said.
