Will India travel to Pakistan for Champions Trophy? The media is at loggerheads at the moment. While Indian media houses have reported that India won't be travelling to Pakistan for the ICC event, Pakistan journalists have reckoned that no discussions between ICC, BCCI and PCB has yet been held.
They also reported that the blueprint of the schedule has already been drafted and India will be playing all their matches in Lahore. Former Pakistan captain Salman Butt has also jumped into the debate and said that it was ICC's duty to send India to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025 which is very likely to be played in February-March. Salman Butt has left the onus on ICC, saying that the episode will make the governing body' stance towards BCCI and other cricketing nations. He added that he wasn't worried about BCCI secretary Jay Shah's decision, and his focus was to see how neutral ICC as a governing body can be. "We try sensationalising everything. There have been a few reports suggesting that Jay Shah has given a positive signal. However, I don't think he's given any signals. I wouldn't have been excited even if there had been a signal from him because it is the ICC's duty to ensure that all teams visit Pakistan," Butt stated on his YouTube channel. "If they come, then they are welcome; if they don't, the ICC has to deal with it. We will find out if they can just deal with all the other countries or can do the same with India as well. It will show how much authority they have as a regulator and how neutral they can be," Butt added. Notably, India did not travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023 as Sri Lanka co-hosted the intercontinental showpiece event. However, the Asia Cup was an ACC event, while the Champions Trophy is an ICC event. India have repeatedly decided against travelling to Pakistan due to their strained political relations, and repeated terrorist attacks from across the border.
