Team India's departure from Barbados has further been delayed and the T20 World Cup 2024 champions are now expected to land in Delhi around 5 AM on Thursday.
The Indian cricket team was expected to leave Barbados on Tuesday evening. As per the latest reports, the charter plane which will carry Team India directly to Delhi did not land in Barbados at the expected time, and thus the delay. The airport in Barbados has reopened after it was closed due to Hurricane Beryl. Players, coaches, support staff, family members and BCCI officials are now expected to leave Barbados around 2-3 AM on Wednesday (local time). The tentative arrival of the Men in Blue in Delhi could be between 4:00 AM to 6:00 AM on Thursday morning. The chartered flight was expected to leave the Barbados shore on Tuesday evening (around 6:00 PM local time) and land in Delhi, India around 8:00 PM IST on Wednesday. The departure was then delayed by almost five hours to 11:30 PM (local time). However, that could also not be possible because of the delayed arrival of the chartered flight in Barbados. All the members of the Indian cricket team, their families, and board members are at the team hotel, and keen to leave for India. The Rohit Sharma-led contingent on Saturday ended a 13-year-long wait for an ICC World Cup title after beating South Africa by seven runs at the Kensington Oval. They created history by becoming the first team to win the T20 World Cup without losing a single match.
